anybody speak multiple languages that are similar

I beg to disagree lol. Although I remember some Portuguese guy told me that Russian ppl seem to pick up (accent and all) easily @empanadas

@BloviatingBuffoon I mean there's a few words different here but the languages are about 90% similar. I have been fluent in Spanish my whole life and takes me a minute to realize if the person is speaking Spanish or Portuguese. When I say Portuguese or Spanish, I mean from Latin America. Portuguese from Portugal is different than Brazil. Brazilians speak vowels longer and wider. While those from Portugal dont pronounce the vowels as much

@BloviatingBuffoon French was my first foreign language when I lived in Switzerland. Spanish was my second one and now when I speak French I sometimes say the verbs in Spanish bc I don’t practice my French any more . Quelle blamage! Lol

@empanadas in rio that say boa noite instead of boa noich like in Lisboa.

I understand Portuguese and speak (horribly). Portuguese friends have this habit of pointing out that I somehow speak like a Spanish and Brazilian person talking in Portuguese @empanadas
I agree that they don’t pronounce their vowels as open as the others. That’s why I can easily know who’s Spanish and who’s Portuguese if I ask them to read/talk in French.

Obrigado is obrigad(o) for portugusee folks. But it also depends on the region ofc…north and south Portugal have diff accents too :)
