Why do people on SW post questions in random categories that have nothing to do with the post?

MAIN REASON:
The posting methodology is so tediously complex--and adds VERY little value--that MOST people
• give up, OR
• simply click on whatever, OR
• reuse whichever group they last used
MOOD? Come, ON...I am usually posting facts, or being funny. Add flags which are OPTIONAL, not crazy mood settings which make it seem that you are stuck in the 1970s (mood rings).
I have abandoned many post attempts precisely because of this.
(I note that this does not explain people posting completely off-topic idiocy in serious groups. Perhaps "people are stupid" explains that more than adequately.)
