Jesus is God in the flesh. He is loving! He came down from heaven and died for our sins. I know God. He saved me as a child. He helps me. He tells me to love my enemies and pray for them, to turn the other cheek. Jesus is my God, and I love him.
@FreeSpirit1 I know You weren't, just showing personal observations I went through myself while growing up with an uber religious mother, and her even more extremist second husband.
IMO, it's really only a cult if it has a central power structure and a strong mechanism for preventing its followers from leaving other than the tenets of its own ideology. Christianity has neither.

Christianity is so vast, it's hard to say it's a cult as a concept. Some people keep their worship private and benefit greatly. There are certain sects, however, that do take it to a cult-like level.
Yeah. There is supposed to be this war that has been going on since the beginning of time and yet it is a simple clear cut good vs evil. When has any war ever been like that? When has there never been disinformation, lying, spying and demonization of the enemy? Good guys trapped behind enemy lines and bad guys among the good guys. I'll look at behavior. Not the propaganda.
'Faith means believing in something without evidence. Believing in something without evidence means one can justify anything...like flying planes into skyscrapers and and suicide bombings thinking they are right because they are doing what their god tells them to do.Faith/religion can make people do evil things believing they are doing good.'
It makes no sense to lump all of Christianity into one group. There are many different branches and sects who call themselves Christian. A few are cults, the vast majority are not.

He is not. Devil is a professional liar and a deceiver for thousands of years, thats why you are fooled thinking that
Jesus, God in the flesh, visited us, was tortured, and died for humanity. He paid our ticked. We are hateful, greedy, and selfish. Would you pay the ticket and die for a hateful person if you are innocent? Think not!
And he made the world and its his rules. Would you prefer a God who has no punishments? Would that be a just and loving God?
He is not your puppet on a string. He demands loving behaviors, and is a good God to do that. I appreciate being humbled by him. He makes us more and more beautiful as we follow his example.
He told us that if we don't repent, and turn from our wicked ways, he would burn this planet and make another one.
@Carazaa Face facts. The vast majority of the past, present, and future are not going your Valhalla. It’s never going to be changed because the vast majority believe something else or not at all. According to you, everyone has Original Sin that needs ceremony to eliminate. We’re born sick and forced to cure ourselves. How much of the world goes through that first hoop?
I think a lot of deities do possess some of the worst traits of humans as they were imagined by them. I do believe in something, but not any particular representation.
"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” ― Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion
A much more interesting question I think is what if God decides to burn and kill the believers? What if God was testing, to see who are those who would be superficial enough to think that kissing his ass, oops I meant praising him, and go through the necessary motions and make trouble for others, oops I meant follow his commandments and adopt the Christian lifestyle, while bothering others to adopt them too or at least have to deal with their Christian lifestyle?
A being that knows everything and is all powerful. Who you think he gonna punish, A) someone who does good, maybe too busy living their life to worship him, or maybe just really doesn't believe in him, or B) someone who thinks they gonna get favors, such as go to a special place in the end because they constantly honor him at the cost of making trouble for others? He's gonna see through it!
Yes Christianity is a cult. So is atheism. Your description of the Christian God Yahweh is based on your ignorance of the subject and completely laughable.
@swirlie Give it a break! Before you attack peoples answers maybe analyze if you are not deceiving yourself and were only hallucinating that night in Florida.
You don't have love which is a hallmark of knowing Jesus! "These are those who know me, those who follow my commands"
