Why is it that when you're trying to lose weight or get in shape family is not ever supportive?

But when you're fat, they give you a hard time about that too.

I hear you too, quizling. Every time I stop buying snacks my hubby goes out and buys my favorite ice cream and Hostess cupcakes, too! My personal weakness, a Hostess cupcake topped with chocolate chip ice cream. it's to die for.

Yeah, I come from a family where you show love through food, so I say no, and I can see the face just fall and the look of sadness. "Well, maybe you can have some just this one time." Except that's the mantra. Every. single. time.

The whole world's a critic but when family or spouses deliberately sabotage your efforts to lose weight it is a good indicator that they are insecure and don't want you to change into someone else that they might lose. My ex was that way, could make some of stupidest comments if I gained weight but if I was losing (and I had to keep it a secret by walking for miles when he wasn't around and trying to eat a normal looking dinner when he was around) weight and he noticed then suddenly he'd be bringing candy bars and other sweets into the house and offer them to me.

I start dieting and suddenly the house is full of my favourite high calorie treats :(

The kind of relatives that show love through food are the worst! They even get mad at you.

Know where you're coming from Bob, I'm about 24% fat, lose an ounce and my partner and mother both say 'you look awful', it's terrible, i'm racing against people half my age and weight and they look so pleased if they get the better of me.
