Is it possible to be insecure and overconfident at the same time?

SW-User
About two different things yes. You can't feel the same towards everything, and at the same time.

If you asked me to do something related to acting I could do it with ease because it's one of my fields of specialty, I can have confidence in that.

If you asked me to do math then I would get very insecure because I lack knowledge

Sure. A man recently told me about his conflicting feelings. He is a great speaker, recognized for his ability to move an audience. As such, he says that he borders on overconfidence. Conversely, when he is in a social situation, having to interface one-on-one with another person, he becomes terribly insecure.

It sounds just like me depending on the day and the mood. I meant some days insecure and some days overconfident. Not usually both at the same time.

Yes, the overconfidence is just a front to hide the insecurities.

@VelvetGhost: ...and your counselor says you should assert yourself more.

I feel like histrionic personality disorder kind of includes that

A fake overconfidence, yes. Those who overcompensate for what they're lacking by going over the top. Like the guys who have a small penis, so buy a really loud, big and noisy car.
