Is not giving homeless people money a form of financial abuse?

Patientlywaiting · 46-50, FVIP
I never give the homeless money. I think doing so may be physical and emotional abuse. Many homeless people are drug and alcohol dependent so money in their hand can either cause them to purchase substances that are never going to help them and also possibly put them in danger. I will go and buy food, drink, blankets and shoes if needed also time finding local charities that provide somewhere safe to be and some help and support. It's easy to walk away but these people are somebody's brother, sister, son or daughter. What if they were your child?

@Patientlywaiting I agree, I'd rather give them food than money
No

Also why do you think that ?

@NotSureAboutMyUserName that's what my nephew says lol he's only 21 thou so he has a lot of learning and growing up to do
@Sweetguy024 Word abuse is diluted to this extent😰

Tell him that guilt tripping people to give you money is emotional abuse.

@Lilnonames that's cause you cared and wanted to better yourself. I'm also guessing you didn't play the victim card and blame everyone but yourself for your situation. That you took charge and did what you could to put yourself in a better place
