Here's what my former sister-in-law and friends and neighbors used to do: they hosted pot luck suppers. Everyone who came would bring ONE dish, and the host or hostess would make a big pasta casserole with cheese, and they would rotate, so that everyone had one weekend every 4 to six weeks. That way they all got to see one another, and have a small party.
PS. The advantage of doing this is that the hostess gets to keep ALL the leftovers!

Been there especially in my 20’s. Rarely ever ate a meal in a sit-down restaurant because of it. Learned to cook good meals at home instead.

it's a lifetime of graft, to one day, hopefully,
enjoy your life,
but then ..there you are
too sick and wonky to enjoy it

If I have to spend money to have fun with friends then they aren't actually friends and they are instead just using me for entertainment. An actual friend will enjoy being around you even if you are doing laundry.
