What do people mean by don’t give in when a child is throwing a huge fit?

Like when a kid throws a fit because they wanted a certain toy but just got a new toy. They say don’t give in and. Stick with no.
They ignore the child.

Basically, NO means NO. It doesn’t mean “convince me”. They won’t always get what they want
Well yeah, if you give them their way, you just encourage the bad behavior.

@BohemianBabe Oooh I see. I guess it’s better to be the “mean” teacher/assistant/parent sometimes. The teachers have been talking about me and the problem is that I let the students do what they want and I don’t control a croup or anybody. They said I wasn’t doing a good job because I wasn’t firm enough and I will have to learn how to control a classroom and if I can’t do that, they’re not going to want me to work there and can revolt my contact and unfortunately they did in April.
@LaylaTheTallGirl Yeah, imagine if they didn't. We'd have a society of kids just doing whatever they wanted at all times.

@BohemianBabe Ohhh yeah. That would not be good. They could end up going to the wrong crowd, in jail or worse, dead!
