I know someone who was watching a worker chisel out a stuck bolt on a car and a little chunk of it flew up and hit him in the face right next to the eye. It traveled through the orbital space between the eye and the skull and ended up lodging there. The doctor wanted to do surgery to remove it but mulled it over and said there was a chance that could go wrong and he would be blind in the eye if it did. Safety googles would have prevented it. I watched him get a C-T scan and the technician was whooping with surprise at how that metal made the curve and lodged behind the eye.

@cherokeepatti they was grinding on the roof of a truck once. I wasn't working was just walking past and a piece of metal hit me in the eye I had go to hospital and they used a tiny drill to u nlodge it. Had wear patch for two weeks and it left a black spot in my vision

I was an amateur lapidary. Used to grind and form pieces of stone and minerals. ALWAYS wore safety glasses.
