So is it a thing to make sandwiches with no butter or mayo?

I was on a training course yesterday and we were offered lunch.
Just a sandwich and a drink.
By lunch I was pretty famished, anyways to my surprise they added some crisps.

I took a bite of the sandwich and god damn it was soo dry.
I quickly washed it down with my drink.
I checked it and they forgot the butter and mayo.
I had to press the sandwich just to get the tomatoes to create some moisture like wtf!

Is this a thing?

@Mellowgirl No way! Stracciatella cheese, it's a very soft and sweet cheese, think of like buffalo mozzarella but way softer and with a lot more milk

One of the members of staff was sat among us staring, so I did just say if was dry. She was looking directly at me I feel trying to intimidate me to not say anything but it was bone dry!

I'm so sorry! You had me at squishing the tomatoes! Yes, the sandwich was dry and needed something. Even when I make a grilled cheese sandwich without butter, Mayo, is a very good substitute! It's truly hard to tell the difference.😊🌷

@Borderline I was already dehydrated from not being offered even a glass of water from 10-1 since we can't drink in that room.
But what pissed me off was that it was sticking to me because I was sooo dry.
The lemonade I thought was going to be still but was fizzy so you can imagine groaning stomach all afternoon. I'd have done better not to eat.

Normally catered food (IE lunch sandwiches) here does not have any condiments on them (as delivered). However, they almost ALWAYS have those little packets of condiments available so that you can add Mayo or Mustard or whatever suites your fancy.

On a sandwich, I have to have either butter, or margarine on the bread.
I add mayo depending on the type of sandwich.
