Depends on whether they can have a polite conversation.

I try to be polite, without making things personal. It’s always interesting to see whether or not the other person will resort to insults and personal abuse.

If they are respectful, I will almost always respond. If they immediately get childish and insultive I will likely ignore. If I notice they act that way in general to all they disagree with, I'll block.

If it’s just a disagreement and not an argument, we can discuss it if they really feel like it. If not, that’s okay because I don’t feel a need for agreement in order to interact with someone. I just don’t bother with it when it resorts to arguing nowadays.

Try to have a civil conversation with them to better understand their viewpoint and see if there are any aspects we can agree on, or if they can convince me I am wrong. But if all they can do is call me names, label me, and throw slogans at me, I will call them on it and disengage.

LOL!!! It's funny how people will say they are respectful to others even those who disagree with them and yet when you see them in action, they can't control themselves and are name calling and hurling abuses here and there.

I give over often because it's not important to me to be right or try to win. On some subjects I am relentless though

With an attitude there is learning at the end, either I am right or have learnt my lesson.
