Can actors and actresses have good chemistry on the set without it turning into a romance in real life?

They might be able to. But if their scenes call for them to look deeply into each other's eyes that could be the thing that pushes them into a romance. Have read that it bonds people together to do that.

@Slade a lot of fake Hollywood couples. And some real marriages of young stars where the studios forced them to conceal their marriages because they thought it would ruin the image that the studios were projecting

Will they remain platonic? Actors are artists, and artists tend to be emotionally driven in their craft, it would only make sense this would blur the lines from professional to personal lives.
