Is Similar Worlds dying a slow death?
Sure seems like it. I won't be surprised if it's gone in a year or two. All the negativity has ran a lot of good people off the site.

We can only do our best to create the environment we hope to have.
Every user interaction site will have its share of negative people. We can’t totally get rid of them.
But if there are more POSITIVE people who pay no attention to the negative ones who are causing others to dislike the environment here, the negative ones will hopefully become less active. They want the attention to their negativity. If they are not getting that attention here, they will move somewhere else.

@CookieCrumbs but the site was initially set up as a support site. People should be able to come here and moan and whinge, and maybe hope for a bit of support.
I cant count the times ive been told by people to be more positive....because i bring them down! Erm....a bit of understanding and empathy might be nice!! I know i do my damnedest to show people in a sad situation a bit of compassion!

YES, it is a support site. It should be a place for us to express our feelings without worry that we will be judged. Or mocked. Or dismissed.
We hope to find people who will read our post, understand our sentiment, and say… “me too, I understand you.”
What I meant with positive vs negative…
It’s not the whining or expressing sadness. It’s the negative behavior of picking unnecessary discussion fights with people, gossiping, playing with people’s emotions, etc.
That’s what drives people away.
Add the pedos that make it a disgusting place for readers.

Ruby this point got lost in a prior discussion. Just wanted to point out that your posts can always be found by friends looking at your profile or by people looking in the experience groups you post in. Where there’s a will, there’s a way here. I do know the feed seems to be quicker or show less or whatever.
The posts disappear very quickly now in the feed so they are only really seen by the people online when they are posted.

I look for friends post often....but clearly no more than about 4 'friends' seek mine ( in fact i know only of three who do)
This place is now almost exclusively for the popular posters to interact between themselves.

@CookieCrumbs that might be what you see as positive and negative, but im telling you hiw i have personally been treated. Ive been here since a few weeks after it started and many old friends have left. But there are so few users now its not easy to become part of already established groups of friends.
And...its not a support site anymore. Because posts of anything more than 2 sentences dont get read. No point pouring your heart out..is there?

I understand what you're saying. If nobody pays any attention to your posts, then there is no point in sharing them.
I feel differently about this. I write to express my feelings or thoughts on paper. If somebody takes time to read it and offer words of support, or even ideas that contradict mine, I appreciate that.
I dont expect to get a lot of comments. I am ok with getting a only few comments, but with substance. But i do appreciate when I get comments from people (not necessarily my friends) who share interest in those similar topics.
SW is a place for me to "park" my mind for a while, a place to take a break from everyday routine. I sometimes take long breaks when I am busy. But when I do return, i enjoy the site for what it is. It may not be what I am looking for or hope for it to be, but it is what it is.
I have a choice to leave. But I have other reasons to stay.
