Why all the constant hostility? How comes folks here can't seem to agree to disagree?

So many of these posts with constant fights and terrible words being thrown amongst users. Its honestly one of the many reasons I don't come online more often.

I'm usually pretty laid back. I'm mostly here for a laugh. Sometimes, though, I see something I have to disagree with. I bite my tongue more often than not though.
