Why are so many teachers and professors liberal

Out of curiosity
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
It all starts with Education.. They have one..😷
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@DeluxedEdition Thanks for your response. 🤗
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@SumKindaMunster thanks for yours! They kill me with this idealism “Well I can’t out debate you. so I’ll show you, by getting five other people with the same biased opinion as me to tell you you’re wrong” 🤔

grow the hell up this never should have been an argument or sparked one
SW-User
@DeluxedEdition Absolutely didnt think you would be offended. I doubt you need anyone to bring offence on your behalf 😉
Typically liberals, as youths, are the anti-social, non-athletic, over parented, over complimented, over pushed and under-loved children.

They participate less in group activities and have a less balanced connection to aspects of heroism, fortitude, strength, faith, group reliance, leadership, social dynamics, discovery, innovation, curiousity, family, success and failure.

Thus, the lack of balance and lack of a "place in society" make them ideal to gravitate to jobs (like teaching) where they can live inside a bubble of self-assurance and smugness that they actually are not unbalanced ... that it is really the successful, innovative, brave, athletic, hardworking, attractive, family oriented, God loving patriots that are unbalanced.

Wowwwwwwwwwwww very good answer @questionWeaver
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
They aren't liberal in the classic sense of the word. Most are authoritarian conformists today, they have a dogma and do not want it challenged. Back in the day they fought against the establishment and now they are the establishment.
CompTrain82 · 41-45, M
@DeluxedEdition Think about JFK...if he ran today he would be considered a white supremacist and alt right.
“Ask not what your country can do for you......” is something that would trigger numerous liberals today.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
He was actually my favorite president in history........ @CompTrain82
MethDozer · M
@CompTrain82 bulllllllshiiiiit
meJess · F
If your pay check comes from the state you support a big state
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@meJess I hadn’t thought of it like that 🤔
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
It started out as a genuine and sincere attempt to address some of the obvious and clear racial, gender, and class inequalities that were apparent after the civil rights movements of the 60-70's.

At some point, by my reckoning in the 90's, it turned ugly and sour and became anti white, and anti white male propaganda, unmoored from the real world.

Now they promote such ideals as a way to get minorities to attend these schools, and indoctrinate them into that way of thinking.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
It’s very interesting hearing opinions about topics that were ongoing since before I was born 🤔... @SumKindaMunster
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@DeluxedEdition If you seek the truth, then studying history is an absolute must.

True history, not the propaganda campaigns of the 1619 project, or CRT.
BlueRain · F
I agree and then impose their beliefs on students.

Where I lived they made good money for only working a few months of the year and a lot of vacation time.
Peaceful · F
Liberal used to mean "free thinking". Today it means conformity.
Peaceful · F
@DeluxedEdition tow the line...less freedom. Not the Republicans are any better. Believe me when I say it is all a show.
CompTrain82 · 41-45, M
@Peaceful It used to be QUESTION AUTHORITY. Now it is DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD BY YOUR BETTERS. Liberal used to mean “I may disagree with what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it”. Now it is, “I disagree with what you say so I will dox and cancel you”.

I don’t believe today’s so called liberals are really liberal.
Peaceful · F
@CompTrain82 perfect reply! Nailed it
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
I think it might be dependent on the subject matter but I think people who like to teach tend to have certain trends of values and are high in things like trait openness which makes them open-minded. I assume you might mean left as the US tends to associate libertarian and left as one thing. Academia tends to find new ways of looking at things also which would follow that hypothesis of academics and teachers being more left-leaning value-wise.
CompTrain82 · 41-45, M
@Ryannnnnn I’m a libertarian and the left in America is certainly NOT libertarian. In fact, Democrats in Congress have lumped libertarians in with the far right as “domestic terrorists”. You may want to examine different viewpoints, but to many profs viewpoints that do not conform to a narrow narrative are forbidden.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
@CompTrain82 I'm aware that that seems to be the case, it's quite strange to me. I think the issue in America has been the shift to the acceptance of far-left politics in culture, and a lot of spaces being controlled by tech companies such as Twitter, Google, Facebook, etc. who are left leaning and thus susceptible to far-left ideology because of open-mindedness and valuing what is deemed as for the greater good. The problem being it falls on the side of authoritarianism, ostracization, and the like.

That and the political climate there is very extreme in general which breeds these levels of discourse.
CestManan · 46-50, F
Maybe it is the "safer" side if they had to pick one.

Sure people get offended no matter what but the goal in some cases is to offend the fewest amount.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
too stupid to get a real job? 🤔
Alison · 18-21, F
Higher IQ on average. The higher your IQ the more likely u are 2b atheist and progressive.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Alison this is literally biased and not true
Alison · 18-21, F
@DeluxedEdition Id look up the studies but Im not a guy *laughs*.
Alison · 18-21, F
@Alison ok I'm bored.

The Union dictates their beliefs
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@MasterLee elaborate
HannahSky · F
Open to ideas and learning.
CompTrain82 · 41-45, M
I had a social studies teacher who was proud of himself for writing a protest song against Bush and read it out loud to the class.
@CompTrain82 sad ...
I guess they are in a profession that suggests people who are invested in have more potential rather than people who live in fear of change.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 They have the same opportunities as me. Instead They choose to sit on their ass and I choose to get up and go after my dreams 🤷🏼‍♀️

@SirenCalledLuce
@DeluxedEdition So did the teachers. The go up off their ass, qualified in a profession and cast their vote for a set of ideals the believe in.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@SirenCalledLuce okay and what does that have to do with people getting the same opportunity as me? Oh wait it doesn’t. Are you drunk?
Allelse · 36-40, M
Yeah it's like why are a lot conservatives often uneducated and poor as shit or really really rich. I mean even the middle class conservatives are often just glorified tradies.
PeterJ · 51-55, M
Thats actually a good question
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
I’ve been wondering for a long time now @PeterJ
PeterJ · 51-55, M
@DeluxedEdition it's a hard one to figure.
MethDozer · M
The unbiased answer is that acedemia tends to be a place where alternative ideas to the status quo have more room to breath. Also acedemics being in the buisiness of ideas over the buisiness of well, buisiness don't have as much tying them to the status quo.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
Thanks for being unbiased. this question didn’t have to Be an argument. People are so childish @MethDozer
MethDozer · M
@DeluxedEdition I'm sure you mean more left tilting ideas as opposed to liberal. Left leaning ideas havn't been as welcomed in our society. Well not since my Grandad's day. Academia becomes a safe place dor those in such a case because debate aNd discussion is what it is only about in that relm. With that said though there is still a lot of rifts and breaks between the academic "left" and working class blue collar "left".
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
