Why are so many teachers and professors liberal

They aren't liberal in the classic sense of the word. Most are authoritarian conformists today, they have a dogma and do not want it challenged. Back in the day they fought against the establishment and now they are the establishment.

@DeluxedEdition Because they control most of the media as well. It is talked about but not in the mainstream media.
If someone wants to give a lecture on a campus they get shut down, most of the time, They dont like different viewpoints.

@DeluxedEdition Think about JFK...if he ran today he would be considered a white supremacist and alt right.
“Ask not what your country can do for you......” is something that would trigger numerous liberals today.
