Am I a terrible person for not putting money into the salvation army red kettles?

The reason I don't is because I heard the salvation army is anti LGBTQ+ and I am part of that community and I don't want to support a group that doesn't care about people like me.

@RightSaidFred Only a very small proportion of money given to big charities go the the "good cause". The big, expensive, plush offices, generous expense accounts, and high salaries for the top dogs in the organization prove that.

Last year they were unable to account for where all the money they collected went.
Salvos are prolly the most honest.. meaning it’s mostly volunteer and most donations actually get used on the needy..
most charities give back like 50% or less and pocket the rest.. never hear they were anti gay

Nah, charities like that are full of hypocrisy. I wouldn't feel good about giving money to them either.

That's true of a lot of christian charities.

I've never heard that anywhere.

I dont know where that money is going, so I never donate unless it's to take clothes to Goodwill

@TheLordOfHell That is totally fair and you are right. Who is to say where that money is going and how much of it actually goes to who it claims to go to.
