Go past the traffic light and make a right turn?
or

The first.

While "past" is etymologically related to the verb "pass", in this case you want the adverbial/prepositional sense ("beyond the traffic light"), which is "past".

Go past the traffic light and make a right turn. Passed is the past tense of pass. :3

@thepeculiarpanda 1. Go past the traffic light and make a right.

2. I went passed the traffic light and missed the turn.

3. Turn around and do not pass the traffic light and turn left.

The first - "... past... ".
Passed is the past tense of the verb pass. So if it's the verb you say passed. Past however is used as a noun, adjective and adverb.

In this sentence "go" is the verb and "past" is the adverb so the first sentence is correct.

@empanadas I originally thought it should have been a left turn but now I see your point. 😬
