I mean I've only ever lived in Ireland so it's kinda a easy question for me

Madhatter · 31-35, M
I always assume they mean where you grew up.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@Madhatter this
justanothername · 51-55, M
They normally mean which city or country were you born in. I’m not sure why that might be confusing.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@Scarlett so have you asked them? Asia is a big area and contains many countries.
Scarlett · 18-21, F
@justanothername lol it's 5:00am in the morning everyone asleep XDDD
Scarlett · 18-21, F
@justanothername Asia is super big but like you can who's from what part of asia pretty easily lol. Northern Asia is Russian + Northern Chinese, Southern Asia is Indians..etc, Southeast asia is Filipino..etc, Western Asia is Iranian...etc all look super different XDDD. My family is probably either Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Mongolian.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Usually it's the country where you were born and raised in.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
I believe it's where u spent most of your life.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
Where do you feel like you're from, I guess. You can answer as you like, I always say my village, even though I've never lived there (except for the summers) because that's how I feel. But if they ask where I live, I say my city.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
It really depends on the context. Sometimes it can be used in a racist context. For example, I've seen people in the US ask people who are Asian for example "Where are you from?", if the person says "Detroit", they get asked "No, but where are you REALLY from?" as if the person in question isn't really American because they're not white or their family are immigrants.

@basilfawlty89 I’ve had that problem on odd occasions here in the UK. ☹️
