When people ask where are you from, do they mean your biological ancestry?

or like where you grew up or like where were you born or like where do you live? x_x Im so confused.

Where do you feel like you're from, I guess. You can answer as you like, I always say my village, even though I've never lived there (except for the summers) because that's how I feel. But if they ask where I live, I say my city.
