I don’t think depression and anxiety are mental illnesses...

I believe they are problems of living and coping with trauma...a normal reaction to childhood abuse and neglect. Simple lifestyle changes and CBT will work. Calling it mental illness is stigmatizing and disempowering.

@CheshireAzur Depression and anxiety are NOT schizophrenia. Schizophrenia in layman's terms is kind of like the brain is swiss cheese.

@curiosi I was addressing your point of "drug companies making a fortune". Also, you might want to look up the DSM-5.
