Can I beg for something that wouldn't make a difference whether or not I received it? Would it be worth it?

It sounds like you are in a position where you feel that you [i]must[/i] accept a gift, or something like that. It also seems like you might want to chose something expensive, even though you might not want it; the gift wouldn't make a difference to you. I might be very wrong. Would it be worth it? If you begged for something you wanted purely for retribution, I don't see how much difference it would make, but you might.

After saying that, I could be way out of what your asking :)

I don't see the point of begging for something unless that something has some sort of meaning or value to you.

If it makes no difference, what's the point?
