Coin shortage

Do you know we're this is going 馃え

Picklebobble256-60, M
Banks and law and big business want everybody to rely on a card.

That way your transactions are all logged on several different computer systems and judgement made on everything from what you buy in your groceries and how that determines the cost of your personal healthcare, to how long you can make your monthly income last and what % interest you personally should pay for any loan or mortgage secured by it.

And this is just the beginning.
Sooner or later this card will likely evolve to include a sample of your DNA; all your alcohol or tobacco consumption. The 'likelihood ' of you being a potential alcoholic or obese person. And from that point you will be limited in your scope for jobs; areas you can live in; limited travel via passport; cheap ineffective drugs to treat your problems as opposed to somebody earning far more and getting priority treatment with effective drugs as a result !

The current covid stuff is enabling businesses to initiate this stuff.
For weeks here the big supermarkets and stores have refused to handle cash claiming some nonsense about Covid-19 being present on cash yet shockingly not so on any debit/credit card !

This stuff is coming kids !
Unless folk start telling them loud and clear that it's unacceptable.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales will there be any left by then?
TheSirfurryanimalWales61-69, M
@Yulianna is there a cod and chips shortage?
Yulianna22-25, F
@TheSirfurryanimalWales apparently bill gates is going to inject all the chips into people in an attempt to turn them into idiots... that's the latest codspiracy theory.

only thing wrong with it is these people are idiots already.
Im not worried. I pay with my vaccine microchips.
Picklebobble256-60, M
@canusernamebemyusername Just supposing your 'vaccine microchip' was issued by...Pfizer.
And yet your insurance company insist only a GlaxoSmithkline chip was 'acceptable l' ?
@Picklebobble2 Sure. The GSK one might work better. Not the first time I've had to switch meds.

there is no "shortage", it's just a bullshit scheme cooked up alongside much of the covid nonsense to try and get everyone hooked on credit/digital currency. According to the Federal Reserve, there are 47.7 billion coins in circulation.

Sure, plastic sounds better on paper, but credit card fraud is rampant; compounded by the fact that the prevention/penalty for digital fraud/cyber crimes is horrendously incompetent (and a royal pain in the ass to deal with and correct for the victim of it)

And I've had more problems/been frauded more with these so called "smart cards" than I ever have with a standard magnetic "swipe" card.

Coinage is legal tender, if a business refuses it, that's their problem not mine; I'll take my business elsewhere.
No more mates rates..
I guess drug dealers will need a swipe machine and a crafty tax accountant from now on
wildbill8336-40, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout or people will just go back to robbing banks, especially the ones trying to hold up circulation... 馃
Jeffrey5351-55, M
They say that so they can make people cards. I work is a store I work in cash office we have lot of money and coins. They put signs on self checkouts cards only. Because people complain to home office because we been using cash and coins. This virus making people go nuts
Hikingguy56-60, M
This is bullshit. Seriously I went and bought a coffee and didn鈥檛 have exact change so they kept my 13 cents!
Where the hell did all these coins suddenly disappear to?
akindheart61-69, F
@Hikingguy i had to charge a 2.14 order because i am not giving them 86
Hikingguy56-60, M
Well if I get my coffee out and they pull that crap. I鈥檒l give them a dollar and charge the .83. @akindheart
akindheart61-69, F
yes it is going down here too. sometimes mcdonalds has money, sometimes not.
akindheart61-69, F
@jackson55 it is happening to me in mcdonalds...i guess people are not spending coins and the banks had a shortage..no circulation
jackson55M
@akindheart I think most of it is BS, people just don鈥檛 want to handle cash.
akindheart61-69, F
@jackson55 you could be right.
Luchs51-55, M
Yeah... the Man is out to stick it to the panhandlers now. Nobody safe!
LUVELACET

I bought several rolls of quarters in February just because I was at the bank and had the opportunity. I鈥檓 glad I did, because a neighbor told me about the shortage when she was scrambling for quarters for the laundry.
JoeMW51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard I've been going to the slightly cheaper laundromat to stretch out my quarters and it's been nice enough to line dry
