@GermanAf i wanted to see it but every little scrap isaw in all of the trailers looked like utter shit. Plus i HATE that actor.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@GermanAf I've already seen it 3.5 times... no more please. lol

@UserUnavailable To be fair, Joker as a comic book movie is a little weird. I loved it because it was a great representation of depression in a mainstream movie. The symbolism of stairs and dancing where spot on for me personally.
I personally might experience it differently. A lot of people say it felt like we were meant to sympathize with Arthur's actions but I see it more like a mirror. Yeah if you get abused and bullied you will take every slight negative interaction as a personal attack. Arthur's mind is very broken but he is the narrator of this story!
Beyond the, perhaps made up, symbolism I really loved the visuals and sounds. The bathroom scene alone is a masterpiece.
And everyone seems to agree on Joaquin's performance so I won't even touch on that :)

@MartinTheFirst I saw it 6 times in the cinema alone 😍

@GermanAf Yeah I agree, the way they captured the depression and mental disease was spectacular. The only thing I don't like about it is how it wasn't longer and didn't capture more after the point of becoming the joker.

@GermanAf i didnt mean he was not critically acclaimed for his performance. I just have always hated him. His face, his voice, his mannerisms. I dont know why - i cannot stand him. Or Ben Stiller. Who else? Malcolm Mcdowell but i think i hate him because he is so good at being a villain i am really supposed to hate him.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Genieinabottle I guess since I've never seen him before it was even better for me and people like me.
GermanAf · 26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst I don't mind that bit. It wasn't about the Joker. It was about how he came to be. How the lack of a support system created this deranged psycho. I would love a follow up movie with Joaquin embracing the Joker, but I think the movie was perfect the way we got it.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@GermanAf One thing I wonder is if the woman at the end in the mental asylum is supposed to be Joaquin or not, she smiled while talking to him
GermanAf · 26-30, M
@Genieinabottle Sorry, I didn't see your reply when I made mine. He plays the villain a lot yeah! But he is a truly incredible actor. Most actors you see you recognize them. But Joaquin always manages to make the part his own. You know it's this celeb you have seen on TV before but you don't recognize him.

@GermanAf Well, yeah... the 3 Chris Nolan Batman movies. And, there have been some others. Don't get me wrong... Joker is near-perfect. It's just one of those movies that has a natural limit to it before it stops feeling like a movie and starts feeling like a documentary. And, then... depression.
GermanAf · 26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst Oooooh I haven't heard that angle before. Care to elaborate?
