So, what's your opinion on...

To be honest, I struggle with what some would say is opinionated in some instances. By way of explanation: A man who's opinion is 'none-negotiable', in that a man who knows he is right purely because the facts says he is right ... must be right. I've seen instances where a verbal war has broken out because a person challenges his opinion, who then goes on to say he is opinionated because he debunks what isn't right.

All I get from the definition of opinionated is that some might step back, as you say, not because they are wrong but because they won't fight to prove they are right.

(Does that make any sense, even?)... LOL

As someone who genuinely believes that my opinion is better than everyone else's on certain subjects (mostly music), even though I know it's wrong, I still do it.

I guess there are times to keep your mouth shut but never on SW. I think it's good to have our views challenged and be open to new ideas.

I believe it's very important to have your own opinion! It's okay to express it when you feel the need, but it's imparitive you not expect others to agree, nor be offended if they express theirs as well. One must be open to differences, and not judgemental.
Just my opinion; yours may differ, and that's okay. LOL

I have no problem whatsoever with a person having an opinion and feeling like they need to express it. What I do have a problem with are the super opinionated that are deaf to the opinions of others and think their opinion is the only opinion.

My personality clashes with those people, so I try and avoid them when possible. As for keeping a check on myself, I try to remind myself that the subject and World does not revolve around me and what I think about certain topics, those seriously opinionated people tend to also be very self centered people.

When you ask a question here you will get all kinds of opinions.
In real life if they do not ask I do not give one.
I try to use some tact when I answer.

I think a general anonymous vent with no clear target is fine...

I think opinionating harshly and uninvited upon something someone may have shared should be questioned...

Why do I feel the need to say this?
What do I hope the impact will be?
What is the impact likely to be?
Am I going to possibly cause hurt?
Do I care?
Why don't I care?
Is that fair?
Is there a better way to deal with this strong opinion I have?

I like the saying Do no harm, but take no shit. That is how I try to live my life. If something I am going to say is going to do harm and no good then I try to keep out of it.

Yes that and a total lack of humility. So much diversity in the world.. various religions, philosophies.. ways of living.. kinds of music.. fashion.. art.. and on and on and on.. but you don't think exactly like me and you are some kinda moron. Makes no sense
