My Featured story pretty much paints the picture; an unromantic view of life among the extreme Stalinist wing of the old Communist Party USA. A person gifted with what Howard Bloom (NYU lecturer/author) calls "the vision of the outsider." That would be me, I hope. Rejected from youth training in the old CP due to some problems my father had with CP leadership, I was raised by my dedicated Stalinist mom who envied her friends who had daughters who had been accepted into Party youth training and greatly resented having to raise a daughter who was, as she saw it, of no good use to the world. It was a huge struggle for me to just have my own little life with my mother and her friends breathing down my neck. (Plus surveillance cameras everywhere, some from Mom's group, some from the FBI). I grew up a very cynical person. I now live a quiet life alone in one rented room in a small community out in the so. Cal desert. Currently, as I post this, I am on a vacation visiting a friend in CA wine country, and most days I sit in a hot tub at a local mineral springs sipping wine. This has been fun to say the least.
