Usually the cell phone companies also have codes you can plug in to help with eliminating scam callers. I know T-Mobile’s is #662#. It has blocked 99% of the scam callers for me. Now I may get like 1 a week.

both the federal and state level do not call lists don't work anymore in the era of caller ID spoofing. both lists are active and taking new applicants but neither will stop unwanted calls (legitimate companies excepted).
instead---
Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint each offers opt-in solutions: Verizon Call Filter (for iPhone and Android) labels suspected robocalls before you answer. The service is free, and for $3 per month you can get caller ID, too.
AT&T Call Protect is free to block suspected fraudsters, and there’s an optional second tier to the service that lets you block legitimate telemarketers and political calls (for $4 per month).
T-Mobile’s Scam ID and Scam Block services can be enabled, and it doesn’t require an app like the Sprint and AT&T solutions. For $4 per month, you’ll have additional options, as well as caller ID.
Sprint offers Premium Caller ID ($3 per month), which displays the caller’s name if he or she is not already in your contacts, and blocks suspected robocallers, fraudulent calls and potential spammers.
more generally--
i use the free tier service from the phone app "Hiya" to block and mark spam callers (usually based in india, or china).

@windinhishair most of mine are (still) from 'microsoft' or BT' insisting there is a problem with my internet....yawn.....
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@RubySoo Interesting. I haven't had one on computer issues or from Microsoft in about a year. But I've had them on cruise packages, credit card rates, auto repairs, hotel stays, and of course, the infamous IRS scam.
Peaches · F
@windinhishair They offered me a loan!😆
TheSirfurryanimalWales · 61-69, M
We have that sort of thing here but some companies ignore it and calls from abroad are not blocked.But at least it means the phone is not ringing all evening..
exexec · 70-79, C
It doesn't help very much.
MARTAisback · 22-25, F
I think that has been around a long time, my parents had that and still got calls
Peaches · F
@MARTAisback Tell her to give them to the police department as well.🚨
TexChik · F
Yep , they call anyway
windinhishair · 70-79, M
Hate to break this to you, but the scammers pay no attention to this registry. I've been on the registry for about 15 years, and still get at least a couple of calls every day.
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@windinhishair snap.
Peaches · F
@windinhishair It's been helpful for me, plus I have a "friend" at the police department I give them to as well.

I have my cell phone number on the national do not call registry, but I still get spam phone calls, and sometimes texts too. I just end up blocking them.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
As someone has already mentioned Hiya is pretty good at blocking spam calls. And it's free.
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
I have been on it for many years.

Note** if you have given your number to any company and they have it in their tos that you know they share your info registering with the do not call won't matter.
Peaches · F
@SW-User Thanks. ☺️
Peaches · F
@SW-User Mine are all scammers.

There is a federal and specific state one. The FTC is so far backlogged they don't care about this and many marketers ignore it.
This is the registry--still the same useless FTC.

Peaches · F
@SW-User I KNOW. I'd advise not to do it on line, because if you get hacked (like me) it can be removed.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
It still happens, just not near as much
raysam363 · 31-35, F
You have to keep it up to date, and with number spoofing scammers are finding ways around the list.
Keepitsimple · 56-60, F
Thank you for best answer! 🤗
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
That thing's a POS.
Peaches · F
@FloorGenAdm No...it helps me.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
@Peaches Worked good the first couple of weeks for me...then the scammers found ways around it.
Peaches · F
@FloorGenAdm They don't talk anymore when they call because I cuss them out, 🗣️💥😆they just do the "robo" bs now.🤖
Hasmita · M
Scammers have found access to the UK one.
