No, I then picture them as Ronnie James Dio 🤟 seeking prey for me

Depends on the context and tone. Some people really mean well. Usually they say something like, "we will keep you in our prayers" because they want us to know they do think of us often.

Other people are being dicks.

I'm always slightly intrigued by those small groups of people who seem to wander/drift around town clutching a Bible and endless panphlets. Cornering poor individuals who can't find an escape route who then have to endure the "We're offering to pray for people today....routine.

I never know whether to feel offended or whether to treat them the same way you do when somebody with extreme learning difficulties suddenly makes a beeline for you because they just happen to like the colour of your jacket !

No i'my not offended you offer to pray for me.
I'm more offended by the fact I now have to 'entertain' you. In a public place. With every passers-by watching. All breathing a sigh of relief it's me caught up in it not them

Only when it’s done in a condescending fashion, but no more so than when anyone else is condescending in a different wording

Not offended but I would tell them not to.
When I was in my dark days and seeing a psychologist he asked me if he could pray for me.
I said do it for yourself but don't do it for me.
He never prayed.

i used to thank them and let them do as they want. Usually, they are harmless and acting with the best intentions of their faith.

I don't get offended, but I'm more thinking "mate, don't even bother. It's not going to help anyone."
I am offended if they say it to me - and I am a believer. They can stick their prayers up their asses.
I am annoyed when people say they'll pray for me
because their god is not my God

No it doesn’t offend me but it does annoy me.
It's all about context.
No cuz they mean well 🙂

Normally not. In most cases the intentions behind it are good. If they want to pray and that brings them some solace, I'm not gonna stop them. Though as someone who doesn't believe I personally don't think it has any effect (other than potentially soothing them) and that their time would be better spent on something else.

So long as they aren't disrespectful or condescending, and aren't trying to push an agenda, they can pray for me as much as they want; I won't get upset.

I'll usually just say "thank you" and appreciate their gesture, and leave it at that.
