Reaching out to fellow introverts...

How do you beat the crushing depression of being alone all the time...because christmas break is making me cry because I have nothing to do and I'm all alone
Carissimi · 70-79, F
As simple as this sounds, have a daily routine, and do it. It’s the foundation of everything else. When you are depressed, just doing the main parts of the routine will feel like you have accomplished something. Accomplishment is good for morale. It's not a substitute for the love and affection of family and friends, and feeling wanted, but if there is no choice but to be alone in this life, then accomplishment can give you a little lift.
Be well 🙏🤗 🎁💐
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Absolutely. When I’m falling into a depression, as I am now. I have five things I do to make sure I don’t fall into chaos, which would make me feel even worse. Make my bed. Get myself ready for the day. Make sure my dishes are washed. Keep up with laundry. Take trash and recycling out. These are the basics of my daily routine. I have a lot more tasks to do, but when in a depression, just doing these five things keeps me from chaos, which can happen very easily while depressed.
Sometimes depression can be so severe, it’s just enough to get out of bed, and wash your face, and brush your teeth. Whatever small step one can take is an accomplishment. I also work out. This helps my sanity a lot. @ozgirl512

@Carissimi very true... Each little accomplishment is the foundation on which the next one is built ... Have a great and productive day ... Hugs
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@ozgirl512 You too. 🤗
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
You feel conflicted, you are an introvert but feel you’re missing out on something by not having people around you to celebrate with.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@cherokeepatti I just want friends
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
Just get out there and do what you enjoy doing... All those people doing the same things are potential friends ...
Lilnonames · F
@ozgirl512 hello ozzy hope your well
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F

I take myself out. Anywhere. Just being out can help.

@antisocialbutterfly buy yourself a coffee or tea and sit and peoplewatch at a coffeeshop or the mall. Bookstores are great. Stop at a petstore. Just being out can help your mood.

@SW-User I don't want to go out
Miram · 31-35, F
I have no need to be with other people. I like alone and prefer it.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Miram I think I blocked that person you're knocking around, cannot see what they're saying.
Miram · 31-35, F
@NativeOregonian Nothing to see, he's just my SW slave ☺️

Yeah, the only reason I watch TV is to read the news banners, with the mute on. I hope you will find someone who will listen and talk to you ❤️ I know it's essential for many.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Miram *hugs* Thank you 🤗 I am planning on moving to Cali soon, one of my Dearest Friends lost his wife and son to a reckless driver recently, she was a Dear Friend as well, hearing of her death tore me apart. He grows for dispensaries outdoors and has asked me to help him with this coming up season.

Find a passion that fills what you think of as loneliness. Build something, write something, paint something, invent something, discover something, explore something.

Simple or complex; unravel the mysteries of the universe or bake a loaf of bread. You don't need the company of another to enjoy the taste of a freshly baked loaf of bread.
solitaire · 41-45, F
It’s not easy. I cry every other night of the year, let alone the hols. I’ll be 37 this Jan and I still cry like a baby :(
Carissimi · 70-79, F
🤗🤗🎁💐💕@solitaire
solitaire · 41-45, F
Thank you. I sometimes wish someone would give me a nice big warm hug (preferably a guy but in a non sexual way)
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@solitaire I miss being held, and hugged too.

it's not about 'alone', not about someone making you feel wanted, making you feel that you're something. it's about how alone you're with your thoughts and your weird personality, your sense of humor
DamnFeelz · 36-40, F
Reading / writing / drawing in a cafe helps
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@DamnFeelz no cafes nearby
DamnFeelz · 36-40, F
🤔 not even a Starbucks or grocery store lunch area? @antisocialbutterfly
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Interesting .... 2 pages of comments here in just 14 minutes.

You are NOT alone :)
NativeOregonian · 51-55
Not exactly an introvert, but stuck inside all the time due to illness, the best things to do is read, go online chats, or television or movies. I have a Roku to help me with the last one.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@antisocialbutterfly *hugs* :( I think joining a community center will be good for you :)
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Lilnonames *hugs* That is so awesome you would do that 🤗
Lilnonames · F
@NativeOregonian i do it every year for last ten years

I'm both extrovert & introvert, but identify more so with the latter. If you're a true introvert, you shouldn't really be super depressed because you're alone. Silence & solitude are the creed of one. My wintery blues don't come from missing the company of people( other than my dead parents ), it's the isolation between me & nature that does. Perhaps it's time for soul searching, getting to the root of who you are. I found my complexities confusing & did so myself. It taught me a lot too!
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Ummm.... introverts typically appreciate the solitude.

Is it possible that you are actually an extrovert, but something is making you fear being around people?
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
I’m just so alone @JoeyFoxx
NativeOregonian · 51-55

@antisocialbutterfly 🤗

How can we help?

I’m an introvert and I love being alone....
Ishtar · 22-25, F
If you're an introvert, it's important to learn to enjoy your own company. Because that's something you'd get used to a lot.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@Ishtar there's just nothing to do
Ishtar · 22-25, F
@antisocialbutterfly take yourself out, treat yourself good and it's Christmas,you can have fun all by yourself.
Ian123 · 61-69, M
You could get involved with the Christmas arrangements for charities,, this would be great in two ways...you’re helping other people and you won’t be on your own. Good Luck 🤗
JBird · F
How about spending some doing charity work, joining yoga club where you can make friends?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
Occupy my mind. Watch movies...
Do you have family at all?
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@iamnikki yep but none of them want to spend time with me
SW-User
I watch movies and play guitar and even take long drives by myself
Human1000 · M
I’m so sorry. The “how” requires therapy and or a medication, though. I feel for you.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@Human1000 I feel so alone.
Lilnonames · F
Go to a goodwill or salvation army and do volunteer work.i do it every year
