Why do women feel they need make up?

They seem fine without it, so what's the deal?
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
We don't. I don't wear makeup every day.

@Fungirlmmm We each know very different women then, I haven't seen but maybe a few women walk around where I live without make up on.

[c=#7700B2]thank you :)[/c]
I actually enjoy makeup. It’s nothing to do with impressing anyone, that I think I’m ugly, or even need it. I just like experimenting with different styles, techniques, and I like the fashion aspect 🤷‍♀️

[c=#7700B2]it makes me feel more confident and I just really like make up.. I don't feel as though I need it but I always wear some when I go out[/c]

Some girls do it because society tells them to, some do it to cover up flaws (acne, scars, etc.), Some do it as an art and actually enjoy being creative with it, as for me, usually to make me feel better about myself and to bring out my eyes. I'm definitely better with it, years ago I wouldn't have been caught dead without my eye makeup (that's all I ever used) now I'm ok with going natural and only do my eyes on special occasions

Some feel the need others do not.I don't always wear make up.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I definitely look better with it.
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@DearAmbellina2113 that can't be true.

It’s statiscal that people like and prefer talking to people with external beauty. It’s sad but research has been shown. Not everyone thinks the same. However makeup does enhance lovely features.

@Mindful just seems so fake to me.
Mindful · 56-60, F
I’m glad you’re paying attention to the difference between what’s real and what’s not. It is absolutely fake. But it is fun to women.@Billybob2

All throughout my 20's I wouldn't be caught dead without my make up on, then ever since I turned 30 I completely stopped wearing make up thinking that it made me look older.

@Katty1984 yikes
It’s fun. I mean why wear anything in that case.
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@Spoiledbrat I guess I would have to be a woman to understand the appeal.
I think it’s a form of expression for some women and men both. @Billybob2

Women are in desperate need of approval. If men admired women who are not as pretty as others, if men admired the opposite of what they currently admire, women would work hard to be or like whatever men admire@Billybob2
Watching too much television. Daytime programming deliberately targets women for commercials.

For few it boost their confidence they feel more acceptable in the society
Some women prefer the way they look in it. Others only wear it for special occasions; still others don’t wear it all. And for some it does improve their appearance, noticeably. But even those for whom it only boosts their confidence, why not ? 😳
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@bijouxbroussard I don't know, it annoys me. I don't like insecure women, not my type personally.
@Billybob2 That’s okay. In a way it’s like people who color or style their hair, or dress a certain way, shave their legs, etc., they’re just trying to put their best foot forward, as they see it—just grooming. Btw, some makeup is so subtle you can’t necessarily tell they’re wearing makeup. Their skin just looks clear.
