I do not understand the indignation when one is using the accent to identify the person, not disparage. And, the best part is when the person of the group actually thinks the impersonation is hilarious, and someone else is completely offended. I do not get upset, either, when people use an accent to describe the way I speak, if it's in jest; and, it's clear to tell what is jest and what is bigotry if one listens.

some of the best "racist" jokes I have heard have came from the "offended" race
Just like some of the best bad impressions have been done by the "Offended" race
Trust me nothing beats seeing your bangladeshi boss completely hamming it up to the sterotype indian

Yes, indeed. I have a good friend who is Jewish who cracks all kinds of "offensive" jokes, one of which got him a rebuke from a holier-than-thou type, but she had egg on her face when she called him out and he gave his name and said he was Jewish back to the time of Moses, and asked her how many Jewish relatives she had. When she said zero, she hastily retreated.

@toddr13: I do love those situations when one of the offended class (as i call them) Fails on the most basic understanding of what is offensive and to who. Gets all hot under the collar about that offensive joke told by that... em...um..... .......fade to silence lol

All of them. Who cares about the feelings of humourless snowflakes

It does make me wonder how those people get through life without a sense of humour and perspective.
It must be hard being in a constant state of offended and looking for things to be offended about

It`s an accent. To be offended by someone mimicing it (in context) is the same as someone being offended by haggis or curry
