Post punk bands - Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Talking Heads.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User They made their most significant music before I was even born, but I think they are still relevant today.
SW-User
@helenS I completely agree!
SW-User
@helenS @SW-User Talking Heads were more 70s
Elegy · 46-50
Probably Talking Heads but I can think of many of a similar calibur.
Elegy · 46-50
@VSonMe I would classify Dino Jr. exactly the same way but of course we all know Pixies later blew tf up.
Elegy · 46-50
@SW-User To clarify, I agree with you that they were a 70's band but they definitely were a popular 80's band as well. I don't think my initial statement precluded them from being both.

@VSonMe Great venue
VSonMe · 56-60, M
@Elegy I think what most of these bands (all of them?) have in common is they were influenced by velvet underground - one band that definitely only became popular after they disbanded.
Elegy · 46-50
@VSonMe Clearly
helenS · 36-40, F
@VSonMe I have their "banana" album, and I enjoy it immensely, especially "Black Angle's Death Song". Way ahead of its time.
VSonMe · 56-60, M
@helenS yes, that's the one I meant: "the velvet underground and Nico"

I think "Venus in furs" is my favorite on the album
