Probably Talking Heads but I can think of many of a similar calibur.

@Elegy talking heads are more 70s

@SW-User That's arguable, their popularity spanned both decades. They can be both a 70's and an 80's band. Bowie could be considered a musician of every decade he was active as can David Byrne.

That's so funny. I was just writing to make the same point. They also reached peak popularity in the 80's and were "post-punk" even in 1977 when first album came out. I loved Byrne's collaboration with Eno too.

@Elegy They weren't an exclusive 80s band

@SW-User If you need that caveat, sure. I mean by that rational R.E.M. and the Police were 70's bands, NIN is an 80's band and The Strokes were a 90's band, js. I'm not entirely sure we need to hold on that tightly.

@SW-User silly argument really. You chose Pixies (excellent choice!) But 2 albums were from 90's

I pick Dinosaur Jr., everyone happy?

@Elegy So how many angels have you destroyed ?

@SW-User Please Google, then we don't have to do this. 😆

@SW-User To clarify, I agree with you that they were a 70's band but they definitely were a popular 80's band as well. I don't think my initial statement precluded them from being both.
