What an ahistorical comment and ignorant of the current societal climate. There's plenty of evidence that there is institutional racism. "White privilege" is a way of masking the inherent dominance of the system of the vulnerable, including white people, and to divide us.
But to deny there is an extra layer of hardship and obstacles if you are a minority, is wilful blindness.

@gol979 then give us an example
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst windrush scandal, gentrification, look at the flow of capital from southern hemisphere to northern, a quick look at a list of billionaires (mainly white men), prison numbers and demographics, ghettoisation.......oh and slavery.
There's plenty more.
Do you believe that where and who you are born to makes no difference to the chances you have in life?

@gol979 The amount of white skinned "billionaires" and amount of criminals has nothing to do with racism. You're reaching for straws... And when last did you see a person being a slave to a white man?
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst you're a mathematician so must have come across averages. If you think we are all born equal in this system, then it would be a logical conclusion that there would be an even distribution in pigmentation and gender for high powered and high paid jobs. There clearly isn't......why is that?
With the prison demographics......why was crack cocaine deemed to be vastly different, in terms of punishment, to powder cocaine?
Who is more likely to get 3 strikes and in prison? The destitute and vulnerable.
I see "slaves" all the time.......most people across the globe are indentured to.the system and 50% of the population exists on about $2 a day.
I'll ask again. Do you believe that where and who you're born to makes no difference to the chances you have in life?

@gol979
That's not how real life works. There will always be large differences in statistics, you just choose to focus on one of them as something negative.

@MartinTheFirst I haven't mentioned just one thing, that's you. I may also point out you aren't answering any questions
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@gol979 Oh right, you mentioned crack and cocaine as well for some reason. Sorry i forgot.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst again, just choosing to pick one thing I have mentioned, rather than answer any questions.......and because you're ignorant of why this happened (cocaine) you just throw it away as inconsequential. Over confidence based on absolutely nothing 👍
So again......do you believe that where and who you are born to makes no difference to the chances you have in life?

@gol979 Btw you do realize that if you were to see equal statistics everywhere, you'd be living in a communist country... i hope you do
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst if that's how you want to conflate addressing inequality......that's up to you
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst you may have missed it as we sent a message at the same time or you just don't want to answer, which is odd because you seem very sure of yourself.......do you believe that where and who you are born to makes no difference to the chances you have in life?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@gol979 Not based on skin color to the degree where anyone has their chances worsened because they're either white or black (with of course exceptions in both directions). If anything i'd even go so far say based on the fucked up social situation we have in this world, black people will have an edge over white since anything you say nowadays can make you lose your job because someone felt racially offended on social media.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst thanks for answering. I don't agree with you at all but thank you for your (personal) candour
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@gol979 You can look it up if you dont believe me.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst I mean you general stance on this subject. No doubt you can find cases that you have stated......but they could very well be inappropriate and maybe should lose their job. But that's very individualistic
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@gol979 im talking about the social climate at large
gol979 · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst as I said, I don't agree with you at all
