I´m not an atheist.
That said, I find easier to extract a tooth from an angry Pitbull than to expect to find one open minded conservative, so if religious as if not.
Wiiiiiiiiii · 51-55, M
Many conservatives feel the same about the other side as well. The extremes of both have taken over the narrative and simply yell and call each other names. @CharlieZ
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
@Wiiiiiiiiii You are right about extremes.
But feelings are not good descriptions, if they are descriptions at all.
Personally, I´m open to friendly talk with almost everybody and to most of well defined respectull debates (if needed).
But I would also risk my life (and did it) standing for freedom.
And this includes the harsh rejection of any kind of political and / or religious authorithy over thought, whatever it takes.

Thank you for your service. The freedoms we have to express ourselves freely are owed to the service of those who have defended it. @CharlieZ

An open-minded (about the existence of a deity) atheist would be an agnostic.

Also, no atheist expects open-mindedness from conservative christians (paulists), because that would be like expecting a hairball thrown up by a cat to gain sentience.

Now, try a better troll tactic, this one won't work.
@SW-User Piety is specific to religious belief. Atheism is not a faith, there are no teachings, there are no rules to the way that people disbelieve. But I do agree that everyone should be kinder to one another, simply because it's the right thing to do and helps us all get along better. 🙂
That one wasn't even directed at me and I blocked her for her disgusting transphobia.
SW-User
Ok I see. I always considered piety to be mean respect for one's own belief, rather than religious. And yes. I agree completely. As always, you provide only positive vibes on this site. I thank you and appreciate it. 😌
Theliberal · 36-40, M
They are hypocrites, but they love to make you believe you are shoving something down their throats that they dont want to believe in...when they start the conversation
Peaceful · F
I wish more people could just focus on their lives and live and let live.

It's because of how the brain works. Believers must shut down the rational side for God to dwell in the creative side. This suggests that God is an irrational creation of the mind. This has been tested and confirmed in neuroscience. Should the atheist be asked to suspend reason and deny science?
SW-User
I have atheist friends who tell me up front they don't believe in God, I figure why discuss it?
I don't need to change
thier minds.
If they care to ask for my views I will discuss them and they are free to discuss thiers.
Cannot really get anywhere trying to proove each other wrong.
I can and do agree to disagree on that subject.
SW-User
That's right! Many are even more judgemental and I hate how smart they believe they are.

Also i am a person that isn't religious but wouldn't call myself atheist... 🤷‍♀️
SW-User
@SW-User Exactly. People can believe whatever they want. I actually prefer the company of atheists but would occasionally be subject to their criticisms.
peskyone · F
Why are so many "conservative Christians" homophobic and treat others with malice when God only teaches LOVE?

Hypocritical in my opinion.
because they're atheist? if they were open minded they would be agnostics.
SW-User
Yes and conservative, fundamentalist Christians wouldn't be conservative but still Christian. Notice how much the word conservative gets a bad wrap. I just don't get why both sides expect the other to yield while they themselves refuse to do the same. It's just one big mirror.
@SW-User Honestly Pink atheism isn't a choice in either event. You either believe or you don't believe.

It's not a voluntary act. I for one do not believe i'm not convinced and it's not my fault. I didn't choose to be a skeptic.
Imsleepy · 31-35
I’m open to the concept of a god, just not the god of the abrahamic faiths as he is portrayed in their holy books.
SW-User
I'm an atheist who doesn't care about what others believe in

Keep em coming SW. Atheists flock to posts like this looking to sew shit. They act as if christians are supposed to be solid rocks without emotions. What the fuck kind of christian is supposed to sit there and never get pissed at least once in his or her life? Fucking sad shits.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
It's all to do with rational thought.
SW-User
Because hypocrites exist on both sides and both are too stupid to admit it.
plinkplonk · F
Does this happen often in your life? (truly interested)
SW-User
Haha the daisymay transexual blocked me
Mainly because Christianity teaches tolerance and compassion...doesn’t it ? The only thing atheists have in common is that they don’t believe in a deity. Often it’s not even the same one.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I'm open to the concept of a God.
