I listened to a discussion about it last night. There is a case to be made that if we withdraw ISIS will re-form, and the Kurds, who supported us there, will all be killed in a genocidal purge and that we would be abandoning them to their deaths.
The opposing argument was that our presence there in Syria was never officially approved by Congress, and that we are not at war in Syria. We were responding to the use of chemical warfare, and that we should not remain because we are not at war.
Left unsaid, and present in the minds of all those still capable of thinking, are Putins recent veiled threats regarding his hypersonic weapons. We do not have comparable weapons at the moment, nor are we able to stop hypersonics. Putin does NOT want us to remain in Syria, because it is crucial to Russia to have access to the Mediterranean and to oil shipments. If we withdraw, Putin can continue with his plans there.

@4meAndyou Russia have been asked to help, same as Iran. America have not and hence are an invading force. You have a point about the Kurds.
The bullshit about hypersonic weapons is a smokescreen and a fabrication to support increased military spending. Russian military budget $48 billion USA military budget $718 billion.
I would also suggest that the chemical attacks were fabricated. There's a lot of evidence to support this.

@gol979 The people who are over there making their own face masks out of styrofoam cups to protect themselves and their children from chlorine gas would disagree with you. I saw a film of that.
I also heard Putin on the news, on about his hypersonic weapons, and "Don't test me."
So I suspect that you are probably one of those Communist-supporting types, in favor of anything that is anti-American.

@4meAndyou not at all. It's easy for you to call me a communist so you can dismiss what I say. But I understand that, we all want to be 'right'.
Yes I also saw the chemical attack videos, good production value (sort of) but if you want a different view then check out frome: stop war.
Also, the white helmets have been completely debunked as a humanitarian entity. Again, plenty of evidence to support that if you want to look.
And you're ignoring history, the dominant powers have (UK and then US) have always allied with Islamic extremists.

@4meAndyou it's not my version, it's what happened with official documentation. I can see that it's making you angry so I'll give it one more try. Have a look a mark curtis, historian. There are plenty more but that's the most relevant to this topic. It only takes 30minutes of your time and you will see it from a different point of view.......imperialism
