Is it even worth going to college at my age?

Perhaps not financially, but aquiring knowledge is always beneficial
GlassDog · 41-45, M
It depends what you are going for. If it's for career prospects, do a cost-benefit analysis. If it's just for interest, it's always worth studying. You don't have to sign up for three years, you could do MOOCs or CPD programmes that are completed in a couple of weeks each.

It's not worth going to college at any age if you ask me...

Depends on the career you want

It depends, are you doing it to better yourself and/or further your career or are you doing it just for something to do?

@Astro Well that's a worthwhile goal to reach for. An Associates degree in Business takes about 2 years full time, (longer if you do part time nights.) If you actually plan on doing your clients hair yourself instead of just managing the salon, you'll also need to be trained in and licensed by whatever state you live in. (I'm assuming you are in the U.S.)
I think if you have the time, money and determination, go for it!

@IM5688 I've been liscense for over 30 years I'd just need the business part
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@Astro Then by all means go for it and I wish you good luck in your education and future salon. Oh, and just so you know ahead of time, a lot of the business courses you must take will be useless in your hair salon business, but it will give you basic business knowledge.

Are you ready to spend the money and not be guaranteed a job when you're done?.... cause they'll find someone younger to hire
Astro · 56-60, M
@Tminus6453 that's why I want to get my own salon so that doesn't happen anymore

There's a 50-year-old guy in my anthropology class. He's awesome. It's great that he went for it. Never too old to get started on that.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
No, just save yourself some money and time and dance naked into oncoming traffic. It's the only way to learn nowadays.
silentwriter180 · 51-55, F
Yes, of course. It's never not worth it if there's something you'd like to learn about.
