Funny, all the socialist countries are doing significantly better than the ones that aren't socialist.

But you probably didn't notice that, now did you.

@SW-User And since when were any of those countries socialist? Do the workers own the means of production? Do they provide essential services to their citizens through taxation? Do they use direct ballot initiatives? Do they have strong nationalized industries that provide social programs?

Because that's what socialism is, and last time I checked, Venezuela doesn't do any of those things, and neither does Nicaragua, nor does Cuba. Try naming countries that are actually socialist. If you need some examples, you might use Finland, Singapore, Japan, or Switzerland. My own home country, Serbia, is somewhat socialist, although not entirely. We still have a lot of work to do, especially after that whole...killing all the Muslims thing we did in the 90's.

A socialist country by definition is a country where the GOVERNMENT or public have control over the producing and dispersing of goods.

Finland
Switzerland
Japan
All practise free market economies so therefore are not Socialist countries. Because they may have a welfare state and ruling socialist parties does not mean they are socialist countries.

Singapore I can't comment on as I don't know enough about them.

@SW-User And the government has more control over the producing and dispersing of goods in all those countries I named than private businesses do. They don't have TOTAL control, but they have the majority of control.

And even if you're hardlining on that definition, it would still mean that Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua are not socialistic either.
