Is the fact that a baby will born to the royal family descended from an American degrading?
Also, the kiddies mothers an actress. Double whammy of degredation.

Given the English royal family's absolutely horror-studded list of despicable, dishonest and disgusting monarchs, consorts, and offspring, I think that's more an upgrade than a degradation. After all, the Queen's predecessor but 1 (and her uncle) was a friggin' Nazi; and her father isn't that much better.

@Harriet03 Well sure, but before they were Germans, their predecessors were variously Scots, Welshmen, Angevins and Normans: i dont think there's been an actual englishman on the throne since Edward the Confessor. They are still the English royal family because they own* England, not because they are English.
