No. I wish they'd stop making them by bombing and invading everywhere.

@GeistInTheMachine Brilliant!

@GeistInTheMachine Got it in one.

Honestly, while I respect our country’s tradition of providing sanctuary to people escaping wars and oppression, and believe immigrants should be treated fairly, the growing number of homeless citizens indicates that perhaps charity should begin at home. 😐

@bijouxbroussard I can't tell if things in America are SNAFU or FUBAR at this point.

@softspokenman Not once the ice caps melt.
bijouxbroussard · F
@softspokenman Yes, and somehow seeing poverty as a character flaw allows them to ignore it and keep any empathy in check.

@CountScrofula Yes it's worse. Britain is very anti immigration.
We have taken just tens of thousands from Syria and have 65 million People. There were stipulations that we only took children too and gave people dental checks. If the dental check said you were over 18, then you get deported.
The anti immigration thing was a big thing behind Brexit. Outside of London, Brighton or Bristol it's hard to be a sitting politician with a pro refugee stand point. Jo Cox was actually murdered for it by an EDL nut case. Our tabloid press regularly dehumanised migrants, even war refugees.

@Burnley123 I'm not hearting that. British tabloids are the worst and there's a LOT of competition.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula I can't disagree
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
No. Britain has taken hardly any people from the Syrian refugee crisis and left others to take the burden.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 I have a friend in Bristol who dedicates herself to working with refugees and I last visited her in 2012 - refugee systems in Britain were horrific back then. I can't imagine what it is like now.

@SW-User What is Norway’s situation with immigrants ?
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard that's a very broad question and i don't know where to start trying to answer something like that
goagainsttheflow · 26-30, F
I wouldn't mind letting in refugees but they don't always have their identification papers and whatnot. It's very easy for criminals to slip in and that's very dangerous. We shouldn't risk it.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Canadian. No. We pretend to be a lot better than we are. We have space and wealth and take in a tiny fraction of refugees and somehow pretend we're super Jesus.
JustLikeGreta · F
I have mixed feelings. I do not wish to see our own citizens be denied help, because we are taking care of refugees.
