@CountScrofula Yes it's worse. Britain is very anti immigration.
We have taken just tens of thousands from Syria and have 65 million People. There were stipulations that we only took children too and gave people dental checks. If the dental check said you were over 18, then you get deported.
The anti immigration thing was a big thing behind Brexit. Outside of London, Brighton or Bristol it's hard to be a sitting politician with a pro refugee stand point. Jo Cox was actually murdered for it by an EDL nut case. Our tabloid press regularly dehumanised migrants, even war refugees.

@Burnley123 Yeah. I've noticed a really disturbing move in the past few years to treat refugees and immigrants as the same entity. Either way they're a hostile foreign power coming for Your Stuff.
