Double Dragon is a pretty good one also! Video games these days are nowhere near as good as they used to be. I miss when they actually used to release games full. No DLC or extra patches, or missing multiplayer. You get the game, and that's it. Even Doom is doing it now!
Contra used to be hard as heck though lol. I've never played a game as hard as Castlevania in my entire life. The original one on NES was brutal!

Hm... I would probably say Star Wars:Knights of the Old Republic.
I come back to it on PC almost every year. I always play a light side Scoundrel/Jedi Consular (meaning I focus on skills and the force more than combat and a lightsaber, you could say it's the "mage" of this game.) Out of many times playing it, i've only done a dark side playthrough once.
