America gets a lot of heat for its gun laws...

But keep in mind these 2 interesting details...

The USA has one of the longest running constitutional sovereignties the world has ever seen.

Perhaps the check of an armed citizenry has kept the government from running amuck as they tend to do every 100 years or so...

No invading armed force has ever reached our shores since the war of 1812.

Even if the us government infrastructure were to completely fail, any conquering army would have a major issue with completing a campaign with boots on the ground.

You might think these possible scenarios are far and away, but that’s just the point. An armed citizenry keeps these scenarios far and away.

the problem americans have is that they dont understand the difference between "noone ever gets any guns anywhere at all" and "some people with criminal records and mental issues shouldnt have access to guns"
@Madgirl 👏

@Madgirl I don’t think we have a problem with that. We already have those laws in place.

Yet that doesn’t solve mental illness

Americans aren't normal.
They lie about their history and then celebrate those lies every year in the form of 'Holidays'.
They tolerate a constitution that means nothing to the poorest amongst them. But those who aren't so poor, just love to shove it down everybody else's throat when their behaviour hiding behind it is questioned, and they need to feel justified.
The anything for a Buck mentality means nothing is sacred. Not even a child sat in class at school.
And so their murders occur frequently. Their prisons grow ever larger. They kill more of their own every year via new and interesting ways to put prisoners to death. And the worst amongst them become politicians and insist that this is the right thing to do.

@Picklebobble2 you know it’s true... you secretly envy us so however you can find ways to take us down a notch it makes you feel better about yourself.

You just can’t help but stick your nose in our business to tell us how to live our lives...

So here you are... I a
Have no fucking clue where you’re from and nor do I care but you sure care a lot about what you don’t know about us.

Get a life.

@GardenSage I have a life. And so do you ! The kids attending school also have one ! Until some idiot walks in with a gun !
GardenSage · 36-40, M
@Picklebobble2 it’s ironic that a place that doesn’t have guns is so vulnerable.

When’s the last time someone shot up a police station?

My point is extreme to counter yours, but guns aren’t the issue. Mental health is.

Banning firearms will make the USA a more dangerous place because we have a different dynamic than you do... which is why you don’t have the fortitude to understand the situation.

Sorry, but butt out.
the part peole dont understand its not the gun but the society's culture. things werent like this years past. people need to take a look at switzerland.
yeah industries have a big say in government and what gets passed or whats regulated. why cigarettes are still a thing even though they are terrible for you, addictive and causes cancer to both the user and who ever breathes it around them. as long as people keep lobbying things wont change.
@badapple Yeah, but they have changed, and vaping, notwithstanding, the U.S. has curbed tobacco sales to minors. Tobacco is actually an example of something that has some real similarities to firearms, as well as differences. Both are potential health hazards, both are deeply rooted in our culture and history, and both have highly motivated industries and industry opponents.
yep they do seem to have similarities

@MichaelJT I'm grateful for the USA joining WW2 and giving us so much help. Fuck all to do with this topic though. As for growing up using them..lol your fucking military had killed 150 allies during the gulf war before the enemy had killed one.

Yep - just carry on killing your kids.

Bravo
You have no invasion because America is busy invading other countries.

However, we sit idly by watching innocent Americans killed daily by guns.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@Random1Thoughts It is not as big a problem as you make it out to be, fact is there are hundreds of millions of Americans, just ask one how many innocent Americans have they seen killed by guns, the usual answer will be none. America remains far safer from guns than many other countries who do not get all the press over guns. For example the rate of gun murders in Honduras is approximately 15 times that of the united states but you never hear that we got to do something about all these guns in Honduras.
@Subsumedpat
America is a first world country, you can not compare it to fail states. It is a big problem, children are dying, be it 1 or 2, they're are still dying. Sadly it is becoming the norm to hear school shooting, police shooting as well as daily shooting within the perimeter of America.

Try and name a first world country that has gun problem like the US. It's mind boggling to have people like yourself try to justify innocent civilians dying as the result of gun violence because there's somewhere else that does the same.
And yet it has a mass shooting phenomenon that is also unique only to America.
A school shooting almost weekly!
More people dead from school shootings in 2018 than active military duty.

Invasion will be easy, you'll have blown yourself to bits
