How do cities cope with their Homeless problems?

Cities with programs that service the homeless appear to attract more homeless people at the expense of taxpayers.

well the homeless can't pay for the help now can they
GarryToppins · 36-40, M
@FurryFace No, but offering too much becomes an attraction for homeless from other cities.
FurryFace · 61-69, M
@GarryToppins when people have nothing they tend to go where stuff is
GarryToppins · 36-40, M
@FurryFace Indeed, but giving them things doesn't solve the underlying issues that made them homeless to begin with.
FurryFace · 61-69, M
@GarryToppins no and most can't be really solved either , in like its using a bucket of cash to help people but the hole in the bottom is as large as the top

@GarryToppins please describe "too much"

@GarryToppins Gary...your level of ignorance on this subject is profound
GarryToppins · 36-40, M
@Fernie You sound incredibly angry and bitter. I am offering observations. Look at SF. The Homeless problem in the bay area is massive. It makes walking at night in some areas dangerous. I worked in an LGBT shelter when I was younger. I met many self destructive people. It may make you feel better to seem like you hold some moral high ground, but you don't. Please offer a solution. How could it be solved. Enlighten me!

@GarryToppins angry and bitter? How ridiculous...don't attach all that negative crap to my words because I did not agree with you. I feel frustrated, yes, at your judgmental, uninformed words...that makes me decent...not YOU. I have worked all my life and still, through no fault of my own I found myself homeless ..living in my car for months...at the same time working 2 jobs. Not because I was a lazy drunk or drug addict. There are many reasons why people become homeless. Are you aware of the "working poor?" Homeless families with both parents working yet homeless? Most landlords now don't want kids...apartments want first last and security $$$ Are you aware of anything outside of your own selfish, most likely privileged world? You have NO clue
GarryToppins · 36-40, M
@Fernie I'm not seeing any solutions, just whining.
Fernie · F
@GarryToppins oh, now it's whining...ok trump junior....I am done here. One day you might suddenly find yourself with no shelter...I sort of hope you do so you will pull your head out of your butt. Sad to know you're out there spewing this crap. I'm done with you. Don't bother responding...you're too toxic...I won't be reading anymore of your uninformed nonsense
GarryToppins · 36-40, M
@Fernie Oh no she called me Trump. That must be your go to when you can't reinforce your over-inflated self-worth. I hope you've invested in a car with a nice back seat or trunk space. I won't be homeless because I make good decisions and a have built-up a safety network.
