Tips for meeting your significant other's parents for the first time?

lorne13 · 61-69, M Best Comment
tell them you're autistic but getting better, they won't expect good manners or any of that shit
lorne13 · 61-69, M
@lorne13 thank you!

Smile, be friendly and expect a million questions. They are interested in learning about you. It's not an interrogation. Unless they shine a light in your eyes, then, yeah, interrogation.

I'm prolly being silly but I'd take the machete out of your handbag before you met them....it's so easy to get carried away.....

@SelfProclaimedGangster ok...well do her parents know about you? But yeah, now I see the extra layer
@westwiiler kinda not really haha. Like they know of me, but I'm not sure if they know who I am to their daughter. They're a little homophobic

Old school gang signs and colors. They’ll love that shit. Also, tag their sofa.

He is just a dad mostly like yours.
I’m always great with parents for some reason, and they usually tend to ask a lot about your life, getting to know who you are/what your plans are for the future, and if you’re good enough for their kid. Thankfully, I always look good on paper. Either way, I think if you haven’t been warned that they’re total assholes you’ll be fine because it’s hard to please people who don’t want to be pleased and there are a lot of parents like that out there, but kids are usually aware of how their parents are and try to prepare or warn you.
@Stark thank you

@SelfProclaimedGangster Her parents were christian. And her dad was a pastor lol

But she recently just came out to her mom & her mom took it so well. My faith in humanity is restored.
@SailorMarz gives me hope

Make yourself at home and start baking cookies! 😛

All jokes aside, just smile, engage in conversation and you'll be fine ☺

Can't help you. I knew her father before I met her. He was our high school football team doctor.

Speaking as a parent; I’d kick your arse out of my house if you did that to me 😂 @gucci

Just enjoy meeting them and have fun getting to know them.
Consider them to be your own parents and respect them.

I made them a meal. I tried to be myself the whole time because obviously you want them to know you. Ask questions about your significant others growing up. Ask about the parents lives interests etc
