I have a friend who calls everything mansplaining.

From conversations to media to video games...most of the time she's flat out wrong so I feel like I have to point out "But that's not mansplaining..." she always responds "But it is" then either walks off or abruptly changes the subject.

It's infuriating, at best 😒

The phenomenon really does exist... but 90% of the time it's just a meaningless accusation meant to shut down the conversation.

Mansplaining isn't just when you argue with a woman about something. It's ultimately about an assumption of (in)competence, especially in a professional setting, like when some rube starts "explaining" basic car maintenance to a greased-covered female mechanic in a shop he brought his car into.

I've seen that shit first-hand, it really does happen. But when you disagree with someone and that's met with "mainsplaining"? Yeah, that's usually not it.
@QuixoticSoul Exactly. 👍🏽

@QuixoticSoul I'm aware the concept exists, yes.

I just know that when someone is simply explaining something to another person, that isn't mansplaining...she seems ignorant of that however.
@Anneishere Agreed. She is ignorant.

Gotta love feminism. 😊
@Itsprincess I keep seeing women run into the horrible ones, and getting hurt. So unfortunately, there are enough. But who were you calling a “slut” earlier ? That’s the term usually used against women considered worthless for enjoying sex.. Most feminist guys who see women as equals wouldn’t necessarily expect a virgin unless they were also one.
@QuixoticSoul Not all virgins are inept. And while experience implies skills, there's no guarantees there, either. Just saying.😏

@bijouxbroussard Well, enthusiasm is definitely counts for something, that's for sure.

As for inept... Some things can only be perfected by doing. I'm not saying that it's not possible to have a lovely time with a virgin. That's more of a personality and chemistry thing, really. But of course the skills are going to be seriously lacking, and that's just the reality of the experience.

Eh, whatever, me and my high school sweetheart were both virgins, and everything went just fine - and we continued to have a healthy sex life for many years. Clearly, it can work. But now with the benefit of hindsight, it just seems silly to put that arrangement on a pedestal. Doubly so if there are submissive tendencies involved.

And while experience implies skills, there's no guarantees there, either.

Bwahaha that's certainly true. Ironically, those fellows were poor performers back in the day as well. But if you're not the selfish sort, you tend to improve dramatically with practice. And not just practice with one woman either. I learned a lot in my first seven years of sexual life - but the year after that was truly transformative.
Anne,

It's NOT worth the effort, not even a tiny bit! Not even the effort I am expending writing this!

Work on not letting silly things infuriate you!

Learn that life is just a Badly Written Sitcom, where the jokes mostly suck, the drama is weird/stupid/useless and you're the only sane Character!

Oh! And you can totally write your own role, your way, anytime, no limits!

Next time she does that slap her.

Tell her it was from me.

She is making her own life miserable..don’t let it rub off on you
Ummmm... Sweetie, you see, "mansplaining" is like a way for smart Men to explain really hard and kinda difficult things to the girls using idioms, terms, words and simple examples that they will maybe understand.
You know, it's just like when you have to talk to your friend Susan!

Or your Mom!

*just teezin*😂

Meh she has mental issues like many feminists. There are cures for that but she wouldn't like them either.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
🙄🙄🙄
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@QuixoticSoul What you didn't know that feminism is a mental disease?
goagainsttheflow · 26-30, F
My mom used that term today, smh.
I usually use that term when guys try to explain how a woman’s body works or basically anything related to women.
@QuixoticSoul Ha! Dude! I've been there!!

Recently the question of "big" or visible labia and their intrinsic ugliness/beauty came up, with (to me), unfounded emphasis mostly towards the "ugly"!

So I had to, aswage tears and negative self worth, go look this up and find and read a published study that explains mainly that 50% show and 50% don't show! There were charts with actual measurements, demographic distribution, descriptive comments, etc.

Pretty much there's that general average look, with exceptions and genetic variations as typical in any personal feature such as lips, eyes, earlobes, noses, hair fingers, toes.

And of course there's a typical bell curve of dislike, happiness and acceptance all pretty much like how guys view themselves in the same region!

God! Then came the Mansplaining!!!
60+ pages down to 3 sentences.
But Hey! No more tears!
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@KneAuxBody Bwahaha. Tbh I'm surprised that the "innie" contingent is actually a full 50% - it seems like less than that - but both are perfectly normal, and there is indeed a ton of variation. Most importantly... that stuff doesn't change with the amount of sex or the number of partners a woman has had. That there is a true WTF piece of /r/badwomenanatomy fodder, and yet is strikingly pervasive.

All of that stuff is just fashion really - in this case, porn fashion. That's the sort of thing that leads to people thinking that boobs looked differently in the 80s. No, they didn't, those are just the ones people decided to film because the look was "in". Distribution in media is not a guide to reality, it's a carefully selected sample.
@QuixoticSoul the real "innies" were probably ⅓ whereas beyond that the "outties" then "come into view" shall we say 😉?

The participants were to stand typically and report the "view" / personal observation. I believe then to lay and make measurements.
Beyond that, I didn't dwell on the procedures.

"Just the Facts Ma'am!"🕵
Well, it’s like most things; someone latches onto a term without fully understanding its meaning or genesis. Kind of like those who slap the term “politically correct” on any example of someone standing up for themselves against prejudice.
Anneishere · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard Hm, perhaps.
