I have a friend who calls everything mansplaining.

From conversations to media to video games...most of the time she's flat out wrong so I feel like I have to point out "But that's not mansplaining..." she always responds "But it is" then either walks off or abruptly changes the subject.

It's infuriating, at best 😒

Gotta love feminism. 😊

@SW-User Ah, the lovely feeling of empowerment...even though said empowerment is meaningless next to the fact that feminism has probably set male/female relations back 70 years 😒
@Anneishere Actually, it hasn’t. Unless you truly believe you’re inferior because you’re a woman.
Anneishere · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard I don't, I simply believe that feminism's demonising of men has not helped improve women's standing in politics or the workplace.
@SW-User I do love it, btw. I love being able to vote, own property, travel alone, work outside the home and drive. There are still women in the world who can’t.

@Anneishere
next to the fact that feminism has probably set male/female relations back 70 years
Ok, that's just a weird thing to say. Gender relations of 50 years ago are not what I'd like to go back to.
feminism's demonising of men has not helped improve women's standing in politics or the workplace.
Feminism itself has dramatically improved women's standings in politics and the workplace. Fundamentally so.
@Anneishere Feminism doesn’t demonise men. Misandry does that, and the two are not the same. Feminism is simply about equal rights and opportunities, and there are male feminists who support that, too.
Anneishere · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard Don't fall back on the no true scotsman fallacy, Feminism takes responsibility for ALL of those who fly under it's banner...trying to ignore that fact makes you just as bad.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Anneishere Feminism isn't some kind of monolithic organization with a membership card, and people/organizations under its rough umbrella hold contrary beliefs and disagree with each other. Sometimes radically, and bitterly.

There are certainly feminist thinkers that demonize men. There are also plenty of others who think that approach is misguided, unhelpful, rooted in false premises, etc.
@Anneishere No, it really doesn’t. Not every person who claims to be a feminist actually is one. It’s like lumping FOI and Louis Farrakhan in the same category with Martin Luther King, Jr. or categorizing all Republicans with white supremacist groups. People do make such generalizations, but they’re not considered fair.

@bijouxbroussard @bijouxbroussard " I love being able to vote, own property, travel alone, work outside the home and drive. There are still women in the world who can’t."

Well then go to one of those places and spread feminism there. Like any country where Sharia law in enforced. Sharia law makes women property, you can't be cool with that. Form 1915 on women in American have been able to do all those things. It's mission accomplished here.
Anneishere · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard And those same feminists would claim that you aren't a real feminist either.

See? This is my problem...or at least one of my problems with the movement.
Anneishere · 26-30, F
@Davidarendale0 Agreed, when you fight a battle that is already won the only results are collateral damage.
@Davidarendale0 In fact, there are feminists in other countries, and outreach. That’s part of what anti-feminists don’t understand or appreciate. You are the one associating feminism solely with white Western women.

@bijouxbroussard I was being sarcastic. :)

I agree with the fundemental ideals of feminism, absolutely. Third-wave feminism is shit though.
Anneishere · 26-30, F
@SW-User I believe that's where the difference needs to be noted...I agreed with Feminism before, it was noble yes.

But the third wave? I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.
SW-User
@Anneishere

It's important to talk about gender politics and ideas. But when the main focus is how someone's feelings are being hurt by someone else's words, then yeah.. that's not the kind of feminism I'd subscribe to.

Most third-wave feminists don't give a shit about women who actually suffer through and as a result of patriarchal systems around the world.
@Anneishere The difference is, I’ve been involved for over 40 years and have seen how things have changed, a lot of it for the better. But what some people are doing now is a different agenda. Not the original intent, which is still valid.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@QuixoticSoul sorry being a feminist on here won't get you any pussy. Try again next time
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
Male feminists make my womb retract
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
@Itsprincess wrong.

have a nice splay.
@Itsprincess That’s what you feel.There are plenty of women who date and marry such men.
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@sighmeupforthat you know who splays? Feminists at slut walks
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@sighmeupforthat do you like sluts? Do you want all women to be sluts?
Itsprincess · 22-25, F
@bijouxbroussard yeah and probably cheat on them because they're unsafisfied with their feminity.
@Itsprincess How do you define femininity ? Submissiveness ? masochism ? 🤔
