Do owners feel insulted if you refer to their pets as "it" and not as "he/she"?

especially if it's a dog or a cat, I'm not talking aout fish or an ant farm.

@whateverhappens Also some people consider their pets as their babies, so those might really take offense.

In German,we refer to our our children as "it," so no.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Mremojiman wow really? I didn't know that
Mremojiman · 26-30, M
@Dan193 Yes, because child and girl is das Kind and Das Mädchen, which is neutral so we say it.

Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Trevo what do you think about it now?
Trevo · 26-30, M
@Dan193 well, I usually refer to them as "it" and I don't think it's offensive. Even when it comes to babies 😷
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Trevo I do too, but sometimes I feel like they might take offense, since they call them he/she.
