Do owners feel insulted if you refer to their pets as "it" and not as "he/she"?

especially if it's a dog or a cat, I'm not talking aout fish or an ant farm.

In German,we refer to our our children as "it," so no.

@Dan193 Yes, because child and girl is das Kind and Das Mädchen, which is neutral so we say it.
