Why is alcohol not banned but weed is?

They tried banning alcohol once. It didn't go well.

Those are different issues. Once you make them all legal, there will be some fall out but hey, it will even out. Plus the cool factor will have been eliminated so drug use will go down if it is well regulated. I am in favor of banning people from driving, or operating machinery if they choose to be a drug abuser. So lets issue licenses for anyone to get for free that puts them on a driver and other machinery ban and let them have all the drugs they would ever want. It also prohibits recuscitation or any health care related to their drug use.

No bmc. All drugs should be legal. If people want to do drugs they can and not bankrupt their families. If people want to destroy their brains on weed or any other drugs let them. It's called natural selection. Once it is legal it takes a lot of the impetus to do it out of the picture. It isn't as 'cool' when it is legal. Airplane glue is just as bad and can be purchased almost anywhere for under 2 dollars. Enough to kill you in a 2 dollar package. Not many do it because it is cheap and easy to acquire.

No, it is not every bit as addictive as harder drugs. It is not physically addictive. You cannot form a chemical addiction to cannabis, nor can you to many drugs. You CAN and WILL form a chemical dependence to alcohol, heroin, codeine, morphine, methamphetamine, and any barbiturate drug. THAT is much more addictive, much more dangerous, and much more damaging to your body.

I would agree on your first statement that drugs should be legalized, with the exception of drugs like PCP/angel dust which cause intense psychotic episodes because that's extremely unsafe for those around the user.

We should legalize all drugs. That isn't the point. The point is it effects your brain and blocks the ability to learn. People who smoke weed just want to talk about weed, and where they get their next hit. Every bit as addicting as harder drugs.

Yes, you're making things up, Lee. When you said cannabis is as addicting as any hard drug, that simply is not true. A drug that does not form chemical dependence is not as addictive as one that does. Weed and coke and peyote are not as addictive as heroin and meth and morphine.

I am not, in any way, claiming that it is not addictive. I am telling you that you are wrong when you say it is EQUALLY AS ADDICTIVE as drugs which form chemical dependence. It IS addictive, psychologically, because it causes cravings. It is NOT as addictive as other substances like smack or meth.

Actually i dont care in either case. Smoke pot to help the economy.

Banning alcohol is not a very successful idea, as the 1920's Prohibition showed us. Humans have been addicted beyond rescue to alcohol for millennia and it's pitiful.

@MyersFan1978 Probably the biggest reason cannabis is illegal is because of hemp. Hemp is a plant that can be used to make everything from rope to paper to clothing, and that's really fucking dangerous for the cotton and lumber industries. So to find a reason to outlaw hemp, they said "Well it can be made into marijuana which is a drug so it needs to be illegal."

To a young brain, maybe. The damage from weed comes in the form of smoke the worst. Smoke is godawful for your entire body, your respiratory system, your eyes, your blood, everything. Alcohol however is a physically addictive drug, unlike marijuana, cocaine, crack, LSD, ecstasy, or mescaline. Alcohol causes your body to form a physical dependence on it like heroin and morphine do, and that is really fucking dangerous.

MyersFan1978 My opinion is that anyone who chooses to drink or use drugs because of depression made a stupid decision, but it's also one that I can at least understand. If you're depressed, you're not using your right mind because you're suffering from an ailment, so while it is unwise and a bad choice, it isn't like you did it just cos you're dumb.
